What is a cookie?
I use cookies on this website. A cookie is a simple small file that is sent with pages from this website [and/or Flash applications] and is stored by your browser on the hard drive of your computer. The information stored therein can be sent back to my servers on a subsequent visit.

Use of permanent cookies
With the help of a permanent cookie I can recognize peripheral equipment of my visitors when they visit my website again. This way I can remember certain settings per visitor. The website can be specifically set to your preferences using cookies. Even if you have given permission to place cookies, I can remember this by means of a cookie. This means you do not have to indicate your preferences again and again, which saves you time and allows you to use my website more pleasantly. You can delete permanent cookies via the settings of your browser.

Use of session cookies
With the help of session cookies I can see which parts of the website you have viewed during this visit. I can therefore adapt this service as much as possible to the surfing behavior of my visitors. These cookies are automatically deleted as soon as your web browser closes.

Google Analytics
A cookie from the American company Google is placed via my website as part of the “Analytics” service. I use this service to track and receive reports on how visitors use the website. I can use this information to improve the website. Google may provide this information to third parties if Google is legally obliged to do so, or if third parties process the information on behalf of Google. I have no influence on this. I may or may not have implicitly allowed Google to use the obtained analytics information for other Google services.

The information that Google collects is anonymized as much as possible. Your IP address is expressly not provided. The information is transferred to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google states that it adheres to the Safe Harbor principles and is affiliated with the Safe Harbor program of the US Department of Commerce. This means that there is an appropriate level of protection for the processing of any personal data.

Social widgets
Some pages of my website may contain buttons to promote (“like”) or share (“tweet”) web pages on social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. These buttons work using pieces of code that come from Facebook or Twitter itself, or from intermediaries such as AddThis. Cookies are placed through this code. I have no influence on that. Read the privacy statement of AddThis, Facebook, Twitter and any other social services used (which can change regularly) to read what they do with your (personal) data that they process via these cookies.

You have the right to request access to and correction or deletion of your data. See my contact page for this. To prevent abuse, I may ask you to identify yourself adequately. When it concerns access to personal data linked to a cookie, you must send a copy of the cookie in question. You can find this in the settings of your browser.
